UPDATE March 2019:
We had some truly wonderful press for Project Storefront - read the blog about it here:

Shortly after creating this program and its first window (shown to the right) we reached out to the local Downtown Association in Astoria (ADHDA) and found out that another member of the community and Association had been trying to drum up support for a similar program though this time including artists and art installations. We've joined forces and have already installed several windows with many more lined up! Together we're changing the landscape for the better enjoyment of locals and visitors alike and giving opportunities to artists, businesses, and building owners.

The Problem
Downtown storefronts in coastal towns are closing and remaining empty for months and sometimes years.
Blight is linked to increases in public drug use and intoxication, graffiti and littering, broken windows and even violence, costing taxpayers in cleanup and other costs as well as loss of tax funds and quality of life.
We believe the solution is a community-wide collaboration and to do our part, we're doing what we do best: collaborating with local artists and businesses to create beautiful spaces that drive foot-traffic and delight.
We're offering to connect business owners with building owners in your town to bring your business' reach to new areas while filling a building's empty window with an engaging display.
For businesses: this increases your reach to foot-traffic and introduces new customers to your store.
For building owners: buildings that draw eyes have a better chance of finding those looking to lease or buy.
For all of us: a vibrant town full of creativity.
For a limited time, we're offering our services for free to test this idea. We're asking merchants to offer a 10% discount for those who see the displays and signs and are moved to visit their stores and to print a sign directing foot traffic to their location, which we'll install with their displays.
